Choice cutout climbs $20 during October

Article-Choice cutout climbs $20 during October

Meat Market Update with Ed Czerwien
Ed Czerwien, market analyst based in Amarillo, Texas, offers a concise summary of last week's beef cutout trade.

The daily spot Choice box beef cutout ended the week last Friday at $233.20, which was $7.76 higher compared to previous Friday. It climbed over $20 higher during October and still continues well over last year, when the same Friday it was $218.50.

The daily Choice loin primal was $10 higher by Friday. The rib primal was $13 higher than the previous Friday and the rib is now $67 higher since mid-September which is definitely pushing the cutout higher. But the rib can't take all the credit as the chuck and round primals have also been increasing in value.

The daily Choice cutout then continued to climb higher and was $236.05 on Tueday, Nov 5. It is well over the previous years including 2015 and actually it is now higher than the high set during the spring grilling rally earlier this year.
