Feeder calves evened out as fall run continues

Slaughter cow prices were $1-3 lower as cull cows continue to come in large numbers.

There was another big fall run of feeder cattle with 45,400 head at the test auctions. Prices varied and were basically $4 lower to $1 higher with the biggest declines on calves that saw price increases last week, despite the larger numbers, so they evened out this week.

Cow numbers at the 20 test auctions were still large, with 12,600 head. That was down just a little from the previous week. Slaughter cow prices were mostly $1-3 lower, but a few auctions that were just a little higher last week were quoting prices $3-8 lower.
