Feeder calves gain previous losses, trade higher amid large runs

More feeder cattle and slaughter cows came to town following two weeks of weather conditions that hindered movement.

A very big run of feeder cattle at the test auctions after the weather improved with 46,400 head. Prices were mostly steady on yearlings but the calves, which had much bigger numbers, were $4-$7 higher, regaining what they lost the last two weeks during the concerns of bigger health risks during tough weather conditions.

There also was a very big run of slaughter cows at the test auctions with 14,600 head, which was 5,000 higher than last week but it also included bigger numbers of bred and feeding type of cows.
