Feeder cattle prices continue to drop which cut the feeder cattle volume way down at auctions when it is normally busy this time of the year because cattle are moving off of wheat pastures. The prices were $7-20 lower following several weeks of dropping prices.

The slaughter cow numbers at test auctions dropped down to 3,600 head at the test auctions, which was almost 2000 head lower than last week. Prices skyrocketed $3-4 higher on the heels of low cow numbers along with a big jump in cow meat prices.
