Feeder cattle prices drop, less cattle came to town

Feeder cattle prices were $3-8 lower this week.

There was a big drop in feeder cattle prices, which were mostly $3-8 lower that cut receipts down as ranchers kept more feeders at home. Volume at the test auctions totaled 39,800 head, compared to 45,000 last week and 53,000 head last year.

Additionally, slaughter cow prices continue to drop but a couple of auctions managed to squeak out slightly higher prices. However, the bulk of the prices were steady to 2 lower.
