Higher prices pulled more cattle to auction barns

Things have been slower at auction barns during the last few weeks because of a drop in prices, but finally cattle are being pulled in, thanks to a jump in prices.

The big drop in feeder cattle prices over the last few weeks had really slowed cattle movement but finally higher prices this week pulled more cattle to the auctions. Prices were mostly $2-4 higher but instances up to $12 higher.

Turning to slaughter cow, receipts at the test auctions improved and were 1500 head higher than last week but storms in some areas are still causing wider price spreads between regions. Prices were basically steady to 2 higher on the heels of rising cow meat prices.
