Market sees biggest fall run of the year

New crop calves and lighter weight yearlings helped make this week the biggest fall run of the year. Prices were $2-7 lower.

Markets saw the biggest fall run of the year with 56,600 head of feeder cattle at the test auctions, including a very big run of new crop calves and lighter weight yearlings. The prices were mostly $2-7 lower but some midweek auctions were up to 10 lower

Slaughter cow prices dropped $2-4 lower, losing most of last week's gains.  Last week's prices really jumped as buyers fought over cows after the previous holiday week when numbers were small as many auctions were shut down during that Thanksgiving week. However prices are still $1-2 higher than prior to Thanksgiving.
