Meat Market Update | 4th of July sales push volume higher

TAGS: Marketing

The daily spot Choice box beef cutout ended the week on Friday, June 26 at $207.17, which was $6.55 lower compared to the previous Friday. Last year, it was about steady at $219.66. On Monday, June 29, it climbed slightly higher to $208.36 as retailers re-ordered product to refill shelves after the big weekend of sales ahead of the Fourth of July. It did drop back down on Tuesday, June 30 to $206.97.

The good news again this week was that there were 7,225 total loads sold for the week, which was 381 loads lower than the previous week, but still good volume. In fact, these last four weeks of larger sales has pushed the four-week moving average graph much higher after being much lower when many packing plants were either shut down or working slower.
