Meat Market Update | Choice cutout patiently waits for grilling rally

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, Texas, offers a concise summary of how last week's beef trade impacted the cattle market and beef prices.

The weekly average Choice cutout was down over $2 for the week. However, when you look at the yearly comparison graphs you can see that this has happened pretty much every year during February then rebounded sometime in March when the grilling season rally started. We are quickly approaching the time of year when the Choice Rib and Loin start the big grilling season rally which pulls the cutout higher.
