Meat Market Update | Daily cutout continues to run higher than last year

Ed Czerwien, market analyst based in Amarillo, Texas, offers a concise summary of how last week's beef trade impacted the cattle market and beef prices.

The weekly average Choice cutout was $2.34 higher on the heels of good volume for the Choice Round and Chuck roast items being sold for roasts. The daily Choice cutout dropped a little during the week, but was still $17 higher than last year when that daily cutout actually dropped $8. However that daily cutout continued to drop and was almost $3 lower by Wednesday, January 17.
