Meat Market Update | Daily spot Choice box beef cutout slips lower

Choice rib primal rallies $6 higher but is still significantly off last year's price.

The daily spot Choice box beef cutout ended the week last Friday at $226.21 which was $1.32 lower compared to previous Friday and then slipped just a little lower on the following Monday and Tuesday. The daily Choice rib primal, which is the main driving force for the grilling rally, finished the week on Friday $6 higher at $385. Last year it jumped $15 and was $436 which pulled the daily Choice cutout up to $251 last year. There were 6559 total loads sold for the week which was 590 loads higher than the previous week and very good volume.
