Meat Market Update | Prime rib rally kicks off early

The prime rib rally usually cranks up in November, but we've seen a $64 jump in just the last four weeks. What does that mean for the fall run?

That daily Choice rib primal has jumped $64 per cwt in the last four weeks helping the Choice cutout move higher over last year's numbers after that massive drop since Father’s Day sales were over. Like we previously mentioned, the Choice rib primal enjoys a very big rally every fall prior to the Christmas party season when companies utilize prime rib for their employee parties. But the meat buyers started to purchase these rib products well ahead of the normal fall rally that usually really cranked up in November and it is approaching last year’s top prices already.
