Meat Market Update | Volumes and prices decline as grilling rally slows

Ed Czerwien, market analyst based in Amarillo, Texas, offers a concise summary of how last week's beef trade impacted the cattle market and beef prices.

The weekly average Choice cutout, which includes all types of sales including the daily Choice cutout, was $208.28, $4.23 lower as the sales volume continued to drop again..

The weekly average Choice rib primal was $12 lower and the loin primal was $14 lower following the normal seasonal declines that take place after the grilling season rally slows down. We won't see another big rally from the rib primal until the Christmas season  which provides prime rib type product for employee Christmas parties at many businesses.
