Meat Market Update | Weekly Choice cutout holds steady

Ed Czerwien, market analyst based in Amarillo, Texas, offers a concise summary of how last week's beef trade impacted the cattle market and beef prices.

The weekly average Choice cutout which includes all types of sales including the daily spot cutout was $191.35, only 15 cents lower, leveling out just a little ahead of last year and no doubt helped out by the return to grilling during the cooler weather. There were 6,943 total loads sold for the week which was 358 loads higher than the previous week. The jump in loads was driven by mostly current type sales and very good movement which should really help the current situation.
