More cattle come to town post holiday week

More feeder cattle and slaughter cows were at test auctions this week, typical with post-holiday trends. Prices stayed on either side of steady.

Markets saw a typical post-holiday week with a good run of feeder cattle at the test auctions with over 27,000 head, 7,000 higher than last year. Prices were mostly $1-3 higher with some heavy weights close to steady.

Slaughter cow numbers saw a very big increase with 9,800 head, 3000 head higher than last year. Prices were steady to mostly $2 lower following last week’s declines.
