Last week’s price improvement pulled a lot more feeder cattle to auctions with 28,700 head at the test auctions compared to only 9,000 head the previous week. But prices dropped much lower again and were mostly $2-11 lower, getting worse as the week progressed with the exception of the lighter weight, grazing type cattle that improved just a little if they were thin.
The slaughter cow numbers were 6,200 head which was almost the same as the previous week. However, cow prices took a big drop and were mostly $7-9 lower. They also dropped even more later in the week, so the highest prices were set early in the week.
