Prices edge higher, cash trade slows

More cattle are moving hands, but cash sales numbers are lower. The five-area weighted average was up $3.89, coming in at $196.65.

It seems the sluggish days of the holidays are officially past and more cattle are trading though there was much smaller cash sales numbers.

The weekly weighted average cash steer price was $1 higher. The five-area weighted average formula price was 196.65 compared to 192.76 the previous week making it $ 3.89 higher.

Unfortunately, steer carcass weights will still go unreported due to the shutdown. The Choice-Select spread was  6.19 on Friday.
