Feeder cattle prices had a big rally and were easily $4-12 higher which helped pull more cattle to town after the holiday week. There was 41,200 head at the test auctions which was twice of last week's holiday run and compared to 33,000 head last year.

Slaughter cow prices were steady to $2 higher on the back of increasing cow meat prices. The big news recently is that Caviness Beef Packing in Hereford, Texas, teamed up with Simplot and are now opening a new high-technology cow plant outside of Boise, Idaho, which is definitely supporting ranchers and dairy cow producers.
