The feeder cattle markets saw a very good test with a big run of feeder cattle at the test auctions with 49,200 head. Prices dropped considerably on yearlings as they were $1-11 lower, but the calves were steady to just a little lower.

Slaughter cow numbers backed up a little and totaled 9,900 head at the test auctions. Prices were steady to a little lower after the previous week's increases when packers were building inventories after the two weeks of holiday shut downs.
