Among U.S. beef producers, 70% approve of the beef checkoff program. That's according to a survey of 1,225 beef and dairy producers commissioned by the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the program.
The survey also found that:

60% of respondents believe the checkoff allows producers' viewpoints to be represented.

77% believe it's contributed to positive trends in beef demand.

61% say the checkoff has helped their operation's profitability.

76% agree that if cattlemen don't promote beef through the checkoff, no one else will pay to do it for them.

75% say the checkoff still has value for producers in a down market.

69% believe a majority of producers support the checkoff.

91% recognize the checkoff by name.
