Debuting in early 2014, the 2015 Sierra HD includes 2500HD and 3500HD models, and the Sierra Denali HD. The line boasts highs in payload (7,374 lbs.), trailering rating (19,600 lbs.) and fifth-wheel towing (23,200 lbs.). Gas and Duramax® diesel powertrains are offered, including a bi-fuel option that pairs the gas engine with a compressed natural gas system.
New features include double-cab and revised crew-cab body styles, with larger rear doors on each. New seat designs enable easier entry and exit from the rear seat, and 2 in. of additional legroom on crew cabs.
A Vortec 6.0-liter gas V8 with variable valve timing is matched with the Hydra-Matic 6L90 six-speed automatic transmission as the standard powertrain across the Sierra HD model range. The 6.0-liter engine is also available in a bi-fuel model.
The Duramax 6.6-liter diesel and Allison® 1000 six-speed automatic transmission powertrain combination is available on all 2500HD and 3500HD models.
