Chevrolet’s Silverado 1500 line boasts three all-new EcoTec3 engines: a 4.3-liter V6 (285 hp and 305 lb.-ft. of torque), a 5.3-liter V8 (355 hp and 383 lb.-ft.) and a 6.2-liter V8 (420 hp and 460 lb.-ft.).
All feature direct fuel injection, active fuel management and continuously variable valve timing, and all seamlessly switch to four-cylinder mode to save fuel during light-load driving.
The 5.3-liter V8 has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 23 mpg highway (4x2 models). Silverado models equipped with the 4.3-liter V6 can tow 7,600 lbs., and those equipped with the 5.3-liter V8 and the Max Towing Package are rated up to 12,000 lbs. The 2014 Silverado 1500 is available in seven trim levels. This includes two work trucks, 1WT and 2WT; LT and LTZ models; enhanced off-road Z71 models in both LT and LTZ trim levels; and a Silverado High Country premium pickup.
