It’s been an active start to winter
Late fall has felt more like mid-winter across many parts of the nation. The Winter Season Severity Index indicates “severe” or “extreme” conditions so far this season across a majority of the U.S. Here, according to Livestock WX, are four things to consider as we enter the winter season:
- The winter season has started off cold and snowy across many regions.
- 3 signs pointing towards the possibility of a continuation of unusually harsh weather over the Northern Plains, Midwest, Great Lakes, and Northeast this winter: Recent cold trends; Neutral ENSO; and Siberian snow cover.
- We could be in for another round of active weather followed by a push of well-below-normal temperatures this week.
- While many parts of the nation could experience milder-than-normal temperatures, the Northern Plains, Upper Midwest, Great Lakes, and Northeast could continue to experience periods of unusually-harsh winter weather heading into 2020.
