Northern Beef Packers Plant To Open In 2012

The Northern Beef Packers (NBP) facility in Aberdeen, SD, has been under construction for the last five years. Now, the plant looks to be close to opening.

In just a matter of weeks, Northern Beef Packers will start processing cattle in its new state-of-the-art facility.

On the south side of Aberdeen lies a 420,000-sq.-foot facility that will soon be the home of NBP plant.

Construction inside of the facility is still underway, and NBP officials say it will house some of the best features from across the country.

"It is the most efficient and safest facility in the country right now, just because they're using the best practices of all the facilities in the country and putting them together in one facility," says Laure Swanson, NBP marketing and public relations director.
