“It’s important to us to figure out how to provide a quality product at an affordable, sustainable price,” says Cody Jorgensen of Jorgensen Land & Cattle (JLC) at Ideal, S.D. “I’m not sure that $5,000 bulls are sustainable.”

More than anything, that’s why JLC transitioned from leasing a handful of bulls 15 years ago, to leasing and marketing more than 3,000 bulls today.

Up front, rid your mind about the negative connotations some associate with bull leasing. “There’s a cowherd behind these bulls, a genetic philosophy and discipline,” Jorgensen explains.
