AETA said it is removing AETA bucks and golden tickets from its trade shows as the IRS reviews the legality of the programs.

The American Equestrian Trade Assn. (AETA) International Trade Show has announced some changes to its August show. The changes are the result of AETA having just been informed that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that the appropriateness of offering "AETA bucks" and "golden tickets” is being questions. The giving away of these items may place the organization's non-profit status in jeopardy.

AETA said it is waiting final determination from the IRS about the legality of these programs but that it doesn't expect an answer until after the August trade show.

As a result, effective immediately, AETA said it is removing AETA bucks and golden tickets from its trade shows.

“We understand this may be disappointing – but we are looking forward to the many, creative opportunities we'll have at this year's show to help one another grow within the equine industry,” AETA said in making the announcement.
