Meat Market Update | Cutout continues decline, volume improves

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

The Comprehensive Choice Cutout continued to decline and we are definitely following last year's late summer plunge, but at least the volume of sales is starting to improve. The out-front sales volume was at 1,650 loads which was 607 loads higher than the previous week and has been the bulk of the total increased sales. We are also seeing meat buyers finally jumping in to purchase product for future delivery.
