Meat Market Update | Higher prices result in lower sales volume

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.
 
The Choice box beef cutout jumped $2.86 this week in price, but the volume was the lowest non-holiday week in well over a year.  During the previous week, trade saw slightly higher prices with sales volume that jumped and was higher in every category.  However, this week's much higher prices brought lower sales volume in every single category.
