Meat Market Update | Average Choice cutout continues climb

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, Texas, offers a concise summary of how last week's beef trade impacted the cattle market and beef prices.

The weekly average Choice cutout was $6.67 higher and has jumped over $10 in two weeks following the daily Choice cutout moving higher. The early rally for the Choice round and chuck primal has pushed the cutout higher even with the big decline in the Choice rib primal. These two primals have rallied over $35 in the daily spot trade during the past few weeks. This rally doesn't normally happen until January.
