Meat Market Update | Sales volume is higher again

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, Texas, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

The weekly average Choice Cutout was very close to steady after the daily Choice cutout rallied early in the week then backed up on Friday.

The big news again this week is that the sales volume was higher for the second week in a row.

The weekly total sales volume was 7,165 loads which was good volume because there have been very few times in the last couple of years that we were above 7,000 loads. The exports and out-front sales were both the biggest in quite a while which helped to increase total sales.
