Meat Market Update | Last-Minute Holiday Weekend Buying Boosts Total Beef Sales

Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.

Boxed beef prices were lower again, but the total sales volume jumped even more as retailers continue to buy product for the Labor Day weekend. This was a very critical week for sales because very little product had been booked ahead for the Labor Day holiday and there needed to be good last-minute buying to take advantage of this major grilling weekend.
