Should Grass-Fed Beef Be Added To The Grading System?

Ground beef is the most budget-friendly of beef products, and at the Grassfed Exchange Meeting in North Dakota, it was suggested that grass-fed beef be added to the grading system.

The current grading system was discussed at the meeting, and for some it implies to consumers that grain-fed, Choice or Prime is the only way to get quality beef. While this isn’t true, it can be argued that the consumer doesn’t necessarily know that.

Ground beef makes up 56% of total beef produced today, and consumption has increased from 42% of the total beef consumed in the U.S. in 1976 to more than 56% of all beef eaten today.
