Cattle Market Wrap-up: Prices slip lower

Cattle Market Wrap-up
Calf prices were generally on the defensive, but steady for heavyweight yearlings.

There was another good run of feeder cattle with 30,300 head at the test auctions. Prices were basically lower but some feeders sold close to steady, especially on the heavier-weight yearlings that can go directly on feed. There is always much more price variation on calves because of the big price differences between weaned and unweaned along with fleshy and thin, which is always normal during the fall.
