Feeder cattle prices start to skyrocket ahead of fall run

Prices jumped $4-10 dollar as the fall run kicks off.

How about that for a headline you want to read? There was another good run of feeder cattle at the test auctions with 31,900 head which was up just a little from last week, but the best news was that prices started to skyrocket and were mostly $4-10 higher.

Slaughter cow receipts at the 20 test auctions were 7,000 head which was almost the same as last week. Prices were mostly steady early in the week but started to drop mid-week on the heels of dropping cow meat prices.
