Volume trends lower because of 4th of July weekend

As always, volume was lower because of holiday week closures.

Markets were typical of Fourth of July weeks with many auctions shut down; there were 19,700 head of feeder cattle at the test auctions, which was about 16,000 head lower than the previous week. Prices continued to climb higher and were mostly $2-11 higher.

Additionally, we saw typcial holidiay trends with slaughter cows with a smaller numbers of cows. There were 4,200 head at the test auctions, which was down about 1,000 head from the previous week. Prices were mostly steady to $2 higher. Some auctions were lower priced this week.
