Markets were typical of Fourth of July weeks with many auctions shut down; there were 19,700 head of feeder cattle at the test auctions, which was about 16,000 head lower than the previous week. Prices continued to climb higher and were mostly $2-11 higher.
Additionally, we saw typcial holidiay trends with slaughter cows with a smaller numbers of cows. There were 4,200 head at the test auctions, which was down about 1,000 head from the previous week. Prices were mostly steady to $2 higher. Some auctions were lower priced this week.
