Overall consumer confidence in New York in April was 64.9 — nearly 3 points less than it was a month ago and about 5 points lower than the nation, according to Siena College
According to Siena, mounting gas prices and food costs were a big driver of the dour sentiments, with nearly 75% of state residents saying those increased expenses are posing a hardship on their monthly budgets.
