Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News reporter in Amarillo, TX, provides us with the latest outlook on boxed beef prices and the weekly cattle trade.
The Comprehensive or Weekly Average Choice Cutout which includes all types of sales was $246.71. The total reported box-beef volume was 6,115 loads which was 526 loads less than the previous week and was the lowest level since mid-August.
Fifty percent trimmings which had been in a major decline during the last six weeks have turned the corner and started to show some improvement which really helped the cutout in the last few weeks.
