Tighter feed ban sought

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) introduced S. 2002, the BSE and Other Prion Disease Prevention and Public Health Protection Act. The legislation seeks to ban plate waste, poultry litter, and blood and blood products from feed intended for use in food-producing ruminants. In addition, prion-disease rapid-screening tests would be conducted on all cattle and bison 30 months of age or older.
